60 for 60: In 2005, Middle College High School opened on Main Campus

In celebration of ÆßÉ«ÊÓƵnical Community College’s 60th anniversary, the College is publishing 60 for 60 – a storytelling campaign that highlights the people, places, and events that have progressed and shaped the College’s six decades of impact. Middle College High School opened its doors on ÆßÉ«ÊÓƵ's Main Campus in Fall 2005. The new high school was a collaborative effort among ÆßÉ«ÊÓƵ Public Schools, Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools and Orange County Schools.

The school was designed to allow students to work toward a high school diploma while earning academic credits toward an associate degree from ÆßÉ«ÊÓƵ, or to transfer to a four-year university. 

Dr. Charles W. Nolan II was the first principal at Middle College High School.

"Being part of a brand new school, and having the opportunity to help set the course for such an innovative undertaking, is a school administrator's dream," Nolan said.
